Health-giving properties of green tea
Green tea comes from the same plant as black tea. It differs from black tea because it is not fermented. The leaves are briefly heated, steamed or roasted to retain the active ingredients.
Studies document the health-giving, sustaining and preventative properties of green tea. Drinking green tea regularly has been shown to have positive effects on diabetes, inflammations, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, cancer and heart complaints. An important property is epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which, for example, has been shown to impede the growth of tumours.
Recommended preparation for green tea: Place the desired quantity of tea in a cup (150ml) with boiled but cooling water (70 - 90 °C) and leave to steep for the recommended time.
